Strandið

On March 16th, 1919, the British steel trawler Clyne Castle was lost after running aground whilst fishing. According to Lloyds, this happened in the English Channel. Icelandic sources mention that Clyne Castle was stranded on 15th at Breiðamerkursandur, South coast of Iceland, that Icelandic salvage vessel GEIR made an unsuccessful attempt to pull the Clyene Castle off and that the crew were rescued.
